Elevate your skating skills to the next level as well as get rid of the shame of expressing emotions on ice with ICEskatERA

You're probably wondering if this is possible? I completely understand you!

Before you go any further, let me show you something...

Have you ever wondered why, despite endless attempts and countless hours spent on the ice rink, you can't achieve the level of figure skating you desire?

This journey doesn't have to be a solitary one. I'm here to help you break through these challenges by offering more than conventional training sessions.

You've likely encountered many promises of quick fixes on the path to improve your skating skills – various methods and techniques promising instant results. However, I want to emphasise that my approach does not rely on any utopian "turbo-techniques." Instead, I focus on the fundamental skating skills essential for reaching a higher level in figure skating. Excellent skating skills, expression, confidence, joy, and inner peace create a solid foundation from which everything starts.

Imagine building your dream house with the highest quality materials
and the knowledge of the best specialists.

Initial admiration quickly turns to disappointment when the first cracks appear, and the house begins to lose stability. Your investments depreciate if you neglect the most important element – a solid foundation. Without it, even the most impressive structure will eventually start to crumble, inevitably leading to its destabilisation. Thus, only a solid base allows for the realisation of dreams without limits.

Similarly, in figure skating, without strong fundamentals, you won't reach a higher level or incorporate advanced elements.

How do I know this?

I've experienced it, working hundreds of hours in ice rinks with skaters from all over the world. Every day I spend many hours working with athletes. The necessity to return to basics is indispensable regardless of the level of advancement. Even the best skaters, with whom I had the great pleasure to work with, were amazed at how much more they could achieve by focusing on the fundamental aspects of skating. Many years of experience and expertise are the foundation on which you can now build your skating aspirations, reaching the level of excellence you've always dreamed of, and my proprietary ...

... mentoring program ICEskatERA will be the beginning of a new ERA in your skating career

My proprietary approach, combining individual teaching methods with a holistic perspective, is primarily focused on the correct fundamentals of skating skills

My goal is to smoothly transition you from your current development point to achieving new quality and significant results that will elevate your skating skills to an entirely new level.

Without solid foundations, progress remains an illusion.

Before we delve into the details of my unique mentoring program ICEskatERA, let me ask you a question that could forever change your approach to figure skating.

Why, do you think, do you want to improve your skills on the ice?

It may seem like just another stage in your sports journey. At first glance, it's probably about improving your skating technique, winning medals, or maybe strengthening your physical condition. But let me show you a deeper dimension of this journey.

You're simply seeking FREEDOM, right? – extraordinary freedom of expressing yourself on the ice, freedom from the limitations that have weighed on your mind and body, hindering the achievement of your true potential.

Perhaps you're also looking for CONFIDENCE – confidence that extends beyond the ice rink and transfers to every aspect of your life. You want to be the person who walks through the world with unwavering certainty, regardless of the challenges encountered.

Let me guess, you strive for RESPECT – respect from others, but most importantly, from yourself. You desire to be a symbol of determination, passion, and excellence, not only for your loved ones but for everyone watching your skating journey.

Or maybe, you simply want to just REALISE YOUR DREAMS– whether it's winning a gold medal at competitions or breaking your own limits, proving to yourself that you're capable of more.

Are you ready for such a transformation?

Do you really want to achieve the level of excellence you've always dreamed of, both on and off the ice?

If your answer is "YES", then you must be ready for the commitment necessary to achieve these goals. Without your determination and willingness to work, this transformation will remain just a dream.

I don't make empty promises.

My experience as a two-time Olympian and coach working daily with athletes at various levels of advancement has allowed me to create a program that goes beyond teaching skating skills. I focus on the mental and emotional development of each participant.

It's time for a change in approach!

Don't limit yourself to traditional training methods.

Elevate your skating skills to a New Dimension and express Your True Self on the ice.

Discover my proprietary mentoring program ICEskatERA with me, combining an individual approach with modern teaching methods and a holistic perspective, to smoothly guide you from your current point in development to achieving new quality and significant results that will skyrocket your skating skills to an entirely new level. A holistic approach to figure skating training, which includes not only technical aspects but also mental, physical, and emotional preparation, is crucial for success at the highest level.

Do you think Yuzuru Hanyu could have achieved so much without comprehensive preparation? This two-time Olympic champion from Japan is an example of a skater whose successes stem from a combination of exceptional technical skills, strong mental fortitude, and unwavering passion for skating. Hanyu is known for his holistic approach to training, which includes not just countless hours spent on the ice but also mental training, work on artistic expression, and focus on mental health. His ability to concentrate and handle pressure at crucial moments in competitions is a direct result of this comprehensive preparation.

Surely, you realise that the French ice dance couple, Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, would not have achieved their spectacular, global success without a holistic approach to training. Their extraordinary expression on the ice, technical perfection, and ability to convey emotions result not only from countless hours of technical training but also from working on mental and emotional aspects. Papadakis and Cizeron always emphasise the importance of balance between body and mind, which allows them to continuously push the boundaries in ice dance.

What about Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir? They became famous for applying a holistic approach to training throughout their long and brilliant career. Their ability to create unforgettable programs that combine technical perfection with deep artistic expression is the result of not only on-ice work but also off-ice efforts. Virtue and Moir placed significant emphasis on mental preparation, which helped them handle pressure and expectations, especially during the Olympic Games.

You must also remember the figure skating legends and the famous Bolero. The British ice dance couple, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who won the Olympic gold medal in 1984, also became known for their holistic approach to skating. Their legendary performances, including the famous dance to Maurice Ravel's "Boléro," were the result of not only excellent skating skills but also a deep understanding of music, work on expression, and strong mental preparation. You'll probably agree with me that Torvill and Dean showed that skating is more than a sport – it's an art requiring a comprehensive approach.

How many times have I observed skaters focusing solely on refining their skating technique, unaware that the key to real success also lies in the mental sphere?

Emotional preparation and a strong psyche are just as important as honing skills on the ice.

It's precisely the lack of a holistic approach to training that often becomes the cause of failure. My experience shows that neglecting mental, emotional, and psychological aspects is a common mistake that can hinder the progress of even the most talented skaters.

My proprietary mentoring program ICEskatERA was created precisely to break this pattern. I designed it to balance technical development with equally important elements of mental preparation. In my work with athletes, I place great emphasis on building a strong psyche, stress management, developing confidence, and perseverance. This holistic approach to training opens the door to the full range of possibilities, allowing the achievement of goals that seemed out of reach.

I am convinced that focusing not only on perfecting skating techniques but also on strengthening mental and emotional aspects is the key to achieving dreams. In ICEskatERA, each athlete learns how important it is to combine the strength of body and mind in pursuit of excellence. I invite you to work together, which will open new perspectives for you and allow you to fully realize your skating aspirations, with a strong mental foundation as the basis for success.

Who you will be working with:

Let me introduce you to the story of my passion, which is the foundation of the unique ICEskatERA mentoring program, of which I am the creator. My adventure with skating began over 40 years ago, and since then, as a competitor, a two-time Olympian, coach, and choreographer, I have gathered extensive experience that has allowed me to create a program that meets the needs of skaters at every level of advancement.

SYLWIA NOWAK-TRĘBACKA

Creator of the ICEskatERA Mentoring Program
Experience and Achievements: My skating career is a path filled with international successes. I have represented Poland twice at the Winter Olympic Games, won the title of World Junior Champion and Vice Champion. I have participated in European and World Championships multiple times, placing in the top ten of the best dance pairs. My achievements include medals in the Grand Prix series competitions. I am also the creator of the "Tea Time Foxtrot," a dance that has been included in the compulsory dance canon of the International Skating Union (ISU). Additionally, I am an ISU Technical Specialist for ice dance.

As someone who has dedicated their life to figure skating, I have traversed the path from competitor, through coach and choreographer to technical specialist, gathering experiences that have enabled me to create a unique mentoring program.

This program is my response to the needs of skaters at every level of advancement who desire not only to perfect their skills but also to reach the fullness of their potential both on and off the ice.

My experiences, international successes, as well as my proprietary approach to teaching and the holistic development of a skater, make me the ideal guide on your path to mastery.
Professionalism and Innovation: My teaching methods combine tradition with modernity, offering a holistic approach to training. I have extensive experience as a coach, choreographer, and technical specialist, which allows me to effectively guide skaters through the entire training process – from learning the basics to specialized training at a high-performance level, in all skating disciplines, though my love is for Ice Dance and Solo Dance. I work in three languages: Polish, Russian, and English, opening the program to participants from around the world.
Holistic Approach: My training philosophy is based on a holistic approach to the development of a skater. Having completed degrees in physiotherapy and pedagogy, I can fully support my charges not only in technical aspects but also in health, psychological, and educational matters. I strive to ensure that every skater, regardless of their experience, can develop in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Individual Approach: The key to success is the personalization of training, tailored to the unique needs and goals of each skater. I understand that each skater is unique and requires a personal development path, which is why my training sessions are adjusted to individual needs and goals. This allows for maximizing potential and achieving individual training plans.
Passion and Inspiration: Figure skating is not just my profession but a lifelong passion. My goal is not only to impart technical knowledge but also to inspire continuous development, pushing one's limits, and realizing dreams. By choosing to work with me, you join a community of people who share a common passion and pursuit of excellence.

Their partnership brought Poland representation at the most important competitions, including the European Championships where they achieved the highest-ever 5th place for Poland, World Championships where they were among the leaders, and the Olympic Games, raising the prestige of Polish skating on the international stage. What they say?

The feedback from participants in my workshops reveals a variety of reasons why individuals decided to attend, ranging from the desire to improve their skating skills during the off-season and invest in their passion and development, to the opportunity for intensive work on skating abilities. The unique aspects of the workshops, such as focusing on presentation, overall skating skills, and expressiveness on ice, set them apart from other offerings on the market.

Participants appreciated the professional atmosphere, the diversity of classes, and the individual approach that catered to their specific needs and goals.

Participants valued the workshops for their organization, approach to participants, and atmosphere, highlighting the comfort and professionalism of the moderators. The opportunity to focus on expression, refresh and reinforce foundational skills, and address technical aspects of skating in a supportive environment was particularly appreciated.

ICEskatERA is recommended for everyone, regardless of their level, especially those interested in artistic aspects of skating, looking to improve skating skills, or seeking a high-quality training experience in Poland. Concerns about fitting in or meeting the physical demands were quickly dispelled by the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, detailed event descriptions, and the individual attention each participant received.

ICEskatERA not only provided a platform for skill enhancement but also offered a space for personal growth, overcoming challenges, and discovering new aspects of skating. This has encouraged many to redefine their approach to practice, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive understanding of skating, beyond just technical elements.

See what participants responded in my workshops survey:

1. Why did you decide to participate in these workshops?

* The first reason for signing up for the workshops was the desire to improve my skating during a period when our ice rink is closed, wanting to invest in myself, my passion, and development.
** The desire to refine skating techniques.
*** These were the only ones I considered. At my first competition in Oberstdorf, I realized that I might know the most difficult elements, but if I can't show them properly, I'll lose. And I'm not even talking about a medal, placement, or scores in the protocols. A start is satisfying for me if I feel that I presented myself better than the last time. I love skating because it's a big challenge for me, and I love challenges. I love learning what I don't know, even though it costs me much more effort than working on what I can do. Usually, in training, we focus on elements (jumps, steps, spins), but in reality, with you, I need to focus on presenting what I can do. And yes, I must, I must, because it is still difficult for me.
**** Because of the opportunity for intensive work on skating skills during the off-season.
**** I want to grow and learn, and I remembered the workshops with Olympians, which taught me a lot.
***** I like to train, and there's a lack of higher-level training in Poland.

2. Why did you choose my workshops among those available on the market?

* I signed up for several different workshops at different times, but after the first edition with you, I canceled the participation in the others and decided to attend more of yours. Why? The answer is simple - the classes were conducted by people who live for this, for whom this is a true passion and who have an immense talent for teaching, showing the path of development. You had an 'eye' for everyone - I felt cared for and pampered. You answered every question of mine, showed me as many times as I needed.
** One of the few workshops available on the market for children.
*** Because it emphasized that it would also work on general skating skills as well as skating to music and expressiveness on ice. Most workshops and trainings are more focused on jumps/techniques of specific elements, so the exercises from the workshops allowed me to develop other skills.
**** The staff, atmosphere, professionalism!!!!! and diversity of classes!!!!
***** They are interestingly conducted.
****** Due to health reasons, I don't do jumps, so I was looking for workshops that wouldn't focus on them. The person of the organizer, of course, also mattered 🙂

3. What do you value most about these workshops?

Organization, approach to participants, and atmosphere (even though I don't participate in them, I love being there :-))
** For the atmosphere, off-ice activities, and most importantly, for the opportunity to focus on expression.
*** For the wonderful atmosphere, which made me feel comfortable and the professional approach of the coaches. **** For the opportunity to consolidate what I know and learn what I don't know and can't do :), great atmosphere, individual approach to each person regardless of skills and abilities, and appreciating even the smallest progress, which is very important.
****** For reminding and refreshing memory.
******* I liked the idea of the workshops, which aimed at artistic opening, adding courage in expression, and slightly pushing out of the comfort zone 🙂 Personally, I'm rather an extrovert and probably need more work on technique than on expression 😜 But I saw that for most participants, this was very useful! Of course, I understand that technique cannot be learned in a weekend, although we got a taste of it in ballet classes, they were great.

4. In what aspect did the workshops help you?

*I realized my deficiencies, lack of basics, and started from the beginning. What's the use of attending classes with an Olympian if she doesn't pay attention to basic things like stretched foot, hand placement, etc.? I solidified a faulty figure, now it's hard to correct, but I'm working on myself. What's the use of knowing all the jumps and many difficult elements if I couldn't (because I never did) basic elements like backward threes... What's the use of jumping (or rather struggling with...) all jumps if I did it incorrectly... Incorrect leg placement...wrong arm and head placement...It made no sense. At one point, I hit a wall - frustration and anger, because how can one not make progress, even though practicing every day??? Even a not-so-smart monkey would have learned by now, right? And the workshops opened my eyes that it's not entirely due to a lack of practice but tons of errors at every stage...
** I learned many new exercises and think they improved my overall skating skills. Additionally, acting classes helped gain more boldness.
*** They explained to me how the body works, how sometimes you have to approach it differently for it to get it, that you have to work a lot and not do ANYTHING forcefully, listen to yourself, listen to your body. And they definitely opened up my "upper half".
**** They raise my skating awareness.
***** I paid more attention to the details of basic skating, unfortunately, often overlooked, and one is taught jumps or spins right away.

5. Who would you recommend my workshops to?

Everyone, regardless of level.
** Everyone.
*** Those counting on a large number of hours on the ice, interested in the artistic side of skating.
**** Everyone who loves skating and wants to learn something and have a good time 🙂
****** Those who lack courage in expressing themselves in dance and on ice and those who want to improve basic skating techniques.

6. What concerns did you have before signing up for the workshops?

I was afraid that if there were your club members/athletes, the focus would be on them. I was worried about the atmosphere because it's quite a 'rotten' environment, full of unhealthy competition and nasty behavior (at our ice rink, there are often situations where girls, who really can't do much because they only spin or jump throughout the entire session, mock and ridicule girls who are trying to learn something). It was nice that on the ice, none of the participants judged or mocked anyone (…)
** Whether a 10-year-old child would cope with them, whether age differences would not be too big an obstacle.
*** I was afraid that my skills would be insufficient and of criticism/pressure from other participants or coaches.
**** Only that I wouldn't physically manage because I realize you need to skate to get better...I wasn't afraid at all of being weaker, worse, because in my opinion, that's not what it's about, we meet here to improve our skating regardless of skill level, because each of us is different, each learns differently.
****** I didn't have any.
******* My concern was my physical endurance for such an intense schedule of classes (I managed 🙂 ) And the level of participants, I was afraid it would be lower than mine and that the classes would be adapted to weaker people, most amateurs I know skate worse than me (in terms of steps and spins).

7. What helped dispel these concerns?

* The first conversation with you when I wanted to sign up. Your great approach, calmness, factual explanations, answers to all my questions, after our conversation I felt relief and sure that it would be fine. I only regret that before the workshops I don't have the opportunity to 'get used to' the ice and switch from rollers. I'm like a clumsy figure on the ice and not at my maximum potential, but it doesn't matter... because I still see the added value after returning from the workshops. Many elements I do without a problem on rollers, which generally are harder than skates, so I think when I fully switch to ice in October/November then I will feel the real difference.
** The individual approach to each person and the openness of the Organizer 🙂
*** A fairly detailed description of the event in social media and opinions from friends.
**** I figured I won't get any younger and if I don't try now, I might not physically manage in a few years 😉 I'd like to add that I had a lot of fun in all the classes and it was a very pleasant weekend. Everything was very professionally organized, I felt cared for, and despite the group classes, I felt that enough attention was given to me.
